The primary objective of this position is for the incumbent to work closely with the Senior Director of Gift Planning & Principal Gift Officer to engage friends and alumni throughout all areas of the University who are above-average gift planning prospects and effectively cultivate them so that through successful solicitations, they become donors who make commitments to the University. Thereafter, these donors must be effectively stewarded to sustain their support for the University. The incumbent is also charged with (a) ensuring that the Office of Gift Planning complies with state financial reporting requirements, and (b) working with the Director of Gift Planning to develop marketing materials and strategies which educate , engage and steward prospective and current donors. In addition, the incumbent also will have extensive interaction with professional advisors to track and receive estate distributions following the death of a donor and to properly capture information on pending and actual distributions for the Finance Office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Director of Gift Planning & Principal Gift Officer in expanding an effective Gift Planning program. This includes contacting, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding planned giving prospects and donors that are assigned to the incumbent. Personal dollar and visitation goals will be set for each fiscal year. 
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director of Gift Planning, the incumbent must produce (or coordinate production of) marketing materials to educate, engage and steward prospective and current donors. Address technical questions of Major Gift directors, Seminary, Annual & Athletic Giving staff. Sustain and leverage the benefits of our Hazard Zet Forward Loyalty Society by contacting and communicating with eligible donors. 
  • Coordinate regulatory filings with different administrative bodies to ensure compliance with state laws concerning charitable gift annuities. Produce reports in collaboration with other departments for the use of the Finance Office. Ensure that estate gifts meet all necessary requirements for recognition purposes. 
  • The incumbent must interact with attorneys, professional advisors, executors, and/ or trust officers to track and then ascertain the status of estate distributions and monitor these anticipated distributions so as to ensure timely payment of such estate gifts. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 3-5 years experience with financial vehicles and estates is required. Prior fundraising or sales experience is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in a nonprofit setting is highly desired. Well-versed in estate/financial planning and associated financial products; fundraising and/or sales experience.
