Staff the Circulation Desk during the weekends, including opening and closing, assist patrons in access and use of
library materials, and monitor facilities and equipment in all areas of library. This position also assists with special
projects as assigned. This position is an Essential Employee as defined by the University and is expected to report to work in inclement weather conditions to keep the University Library open, even when the rest of the University is closed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work at the Circulation desk on the weekends managing general library operations and procedures to ensure library policies are adhered to. Perform opening and closing procedures for the library. Oversee functions for Circulation in the Integrated Library System, such as check-in, check-out, etc., and other routine work at Circulation desk, such as answering the phones, and in Access Services generally (Stacks, ILL, Reserves). Oversee student workers, maintaining their workflow on tasks in all areas of Access Services as needed/directed. Settle disputes in relation to circulation functions and deposit fines in the Dean's office. Oversight of building issues during the weekends is essential, including but not limited to facilities, public safety, and communication with the building manager. Process incoming and outgoing interlibrary loan (ILL) requests via the various systems deployed in the Library. This includes, but is not limited to filling electronic requests, receiving and processing physical items, shipping physical items, and otherwise keeping ILL processes progressing during the weekends. Assist guest patrons and/or refer them to services as needed.

Required Qualifications:

-High school diploma or GED
-Working knowledge of Library of Congress call number arrangement and integrated library systems
-1-3 years work in a library
-Excellent phone and service skills; detail & accuracy on information input
-Microsoft Office suite skills
-Ability to use typical library equipment and troubleshoot and report issues
-Accuracy in data input, and clarity in reporting
-Very clear and professional service communication directly with library users, student workers, handle complaints, building &
behavioral issues
-Must have highly reliable attendance record that must be maintained
-Ability to perform Essential contractual responsibilities

-Associate’s degree, or vocational or technical school degree – Field of study: Open

Staff Union (Local 153) - SU16.0

Exempt/Nonexempt: Nonexempt

Physical Demands: General Office Environment
