Working collaboratively with the Assistant Dean of Public Services, the successful candidate will serve as primary liaison to the School of Diplomacy and International Relations, Political Science and Public Affairs department and other areas as appropriate, with a focus on course-integrated instruction, skill-building workshops, research consultations, outreach, and collection development. This is a tenure-eligible, full-time Library Faculty position, requiring a 2nd graduate degree, annual reviews (including a comprehensive third-year review), and service obligations and scholarship for the promotion and tenure process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver core information literacy course instruction in partnership with other faculty library liaisons in various modalities.
• Support undergraduate and graduate research through delivery of virtual and in-person reference services.
• Build LibGuides, and supporting materials to provide information about research resources and data sources
• Work with the Data Services team to further develop a complementary suite of data services that include data collection, data literacy training, data analysis, and visualization
• Provide instruction, consult, and research support for students and faculty working with data sources, data software, and data analysis common to social sciences research
• Work with the Liaison Working Group to provide new models of research and data support across the social sciences.

Required Qualifications:

• Basic understanding of academic or research libraries
• Masters in library science (MLS) or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution
• Commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in our workplace, as well as in the systems, services, and collections we build
• Ability to assess curricular and research needs in social science disciplines, select materials, and build library and data services to meet those needs
• Demonstrated interest in social sciences data tools and a commitment to learn new skills
• Knowledge of scholarly research trends and research methods in the social sciences
• Knowledge of social science research methodologies, data applications and repositories, and legal and government information sources.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement effective programs and complex projects
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly and effectively in groups with people from diverse backgrounds

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with tools for social sciences data analysis, e.g., SPSS, Stata, ATLAS.ti, R, or Qualtrics
• Background or experience indicating an ability to become proficient with quantitative or qualitative research tools such as SPSS or STATA , ATLAS.ti, R, or Qualtrics
• Experience with using a data analysis, visualization, and mapping tools such as ArcGIS
• Additional graduate degree in relevant field
• Experience with data management plans to support public access mandates and grant requirements
