The Department of Computing and Decision Sciences seeks candidates for a full-time lecturer appointment commencing August 26, 2024. The candidate will teach core information technology (IT) courses at the undergraduate and MBA level. Our courses are typically taught in person, on the South Orange campus, though graduate offerings may be delivered in a hybrid or asynchronous modality. We emphasize hands-on learning and a high degree of student-faculty interaction and seek candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility for this position will be teaching a 3+3 load (three courses in the fall and three courses in the spring) and service to the department in the form of student advising. . The normal load for a Lecturer is 4+4, but this position will include a one-course release each semester in recognition of the academic advising responsibility. The candidate would advise all undergraduate Information Technology majors, providing guidance on both course selection and professional/career development. Any research or publishing in information technology (IT), accounting information systems or general business is encouraged but is not a requirement of the position.

The current need is for the candidate to teach:
• an undergraduate introductory IT course which primarily covers the application of Excel to business problems
• an MBA introductory IT course which is a case based course that examines key IT technologies in business
• a graduate level course in business processes that investigates the design, control, data used within the major business transactional cycles

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have significant industry experience either managing IT or deploying it for corporate projects. Candidates must have at least a master’s degree in IT or a closely related field. In addition, the candidate must have some prior teaching experience as either a full-time or adjunct instructor.
