The associate dean for academic affairs will help manage academic initiatives, operations, and strategy in the College of Arts and Sciences. Responsibilities will involve managing the tenure and promotion process,
hiring requests and prioritization, overseeing academic advising, championing faculty wellbeing and success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Keep meticulous track of tenure and promotion applications, hiring requests, faculty award nominations, sabbatical requests, and other processes to assist the dean in making timely recommendations and decisions.
Champion faculty success and wellbeing by listening to faculty, designing and implementing mechanisms and initiatives to address faculty challenges and aspirations.
Coordinate comprehensive improvements to academic advising in the College in dialogue with departments.
Assist faculty efforts to develop new program proposals, apply for substantial grants, implement initiatives to promote graduate student recruitment or academic success, or accomplish other objectives aligned with College strategy.
Advise the dean on academic matters pertaining to the areas of their expertise.
Other tasks as reasonably assigned by the dean.

Required Qualifications:

Tenure in a department in the College of Arts and Sciences at SHU

Desired Qualifications:

Full professor preferred
Experience as department chairperson, program director, or other significant service on relevant committees (Senate, College, Strategic Planning, Student Success, etc).
