JOB SUMMARY

Walsh Library seeks a Federal Work Study student employee to assist in the Collection Services department for the Spring 2025 semester with the potential to continue through the 2025-2026 academic year. Shifts would be scheduled between 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists Collections Services staff with various library collections projects, including basic catalog clean-up and enhancement; searching the SHU catalog to determine book holdings; checking the shelves to verify holdings; deleting outdated records; processing books and other library materials for discard and/or transfer; and packing items for Better World Books. Performs basic data entry using web-based library systems and MS Excel. May also assist Acquisitions staff with processing orders; checking the SHU catalog for duplication; opening shipments, and verifying invoices. May occasionally assist with interlibrary loan or Access Services tasks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong attention to detail; consistent work ethic and reliability. Experience with data entry. Ability to search library catalog. Ability to take direction and understand verbal and written instructions. Punctual and communicative with good attendance and clear understanding that work study jobs are paid work. Ability to work independently on repetitive tasks and read and follow instructions effectively. Good interpersonal skills. Federal Work Study Award is required.
