JOB SUMMARY

Work studies are the connection between the Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE) and the student population at Seton Hall. He/She is responsible for coordinating weekly programs through DOVE, as well as completing in-office work that will foster our programs and our relationship with outside agencies and our Catholic mission.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take on the role as program coordinator for at least two weekly programs. The student must serve as a leader, supervising student groups of 5-20 volunteers alongside DOVE’s community partners
  • Lead reflection after service programs
  • Be present for mandatory workdays and scheduled office hours in addition to the scheduled weekly programs
  • Represent DOVE at a variety of community service sites & attend open houses/promotional events on behalf of the DOVE office
  • Be a welcoming presence to all office visitors, answer office phones, take messages, send emails to volunteers
  • Keep office clean and organized, move & sort donations as needed
  • Post publicity for upcoming events and be attentive regarding all DOVE PR (the Setonian, flyers, broadcast emails, etc.)
  • Recruit students for volunteer programs
  • Be involved in the planning of some of DOVE's larger scale events

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position is only available to undergraduate students at Seton Hall University who are federal work study eligible.
  • A professional attitude, good written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, ability to stay self-motivated, and leadership skills to supervise peers are required.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.
  • Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule.
  • Experience with community outreach and volunteerism.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to drive volunteers in 12-passenger van as needed

 

Ability to translate Spanish in order to help plan for international mission trips.
