The Student Success Advisor (SSA) serves as the primary point of contact for all first-year students, guiding their transition to college and supporting their academic success. This role involves providing academic advising to first year students, monitoring their academic progress, conducting advising appointments, assisting with course registration through their first year, and teaching 4-5 sections of our first year seminar course.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Student Success Advisor is a full-time academic advisor who will help navigate many of the logistical aspects of First Year student's Seton Hall journey, including understanding Compass, Banner, Degree Works, Canvas, financial aid, first-year course selection and managing registration requirements including holds.

The Student Success Advisor will advise students' course registration with ongoing monitoring of academic progress throughout the first year.

The Student Success Advisor will regularly be available for academic advisement appointments and guidance throughout the academic year for first year students.

The Student Success Advisor will instruct 4-5 sections our first year seminar course - "University Life: CORE-1001" or SKILL1101 which are courses offered to all first-year students.

The Student Success Advisor will maintain a working knowledge of other resources on campus for referrals. Must be knowledgeable of FERPA, Title IX, Campus Security and all other required university policies and procedures.

The Student Success Advisor will maintain accurate records and files related to their respective caseload and conduct outreach to students to increase student retention and experience.

The Student Success Advisor will also contribute to one of four our functional areas - Pirate Pathway, Transfer Center, Curriculum/Training, or Undecided/Undeclared students.

The Student Success Advisor will work all New Student Orientations (summer), assist with Open Houses & Previews (occasional weekends) and other collaborative initiatives with the Office of Admissions and the Office of Student Engagement.

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean and Dean.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree

Desired Qualifications:

At least one year of professional experience in college level academic advising/counseling.

Experience using Compass, Degree Works, Banner and Canvas.

Salary Grade:

AD150 - Administrative

Exempt/Nonexempt: Exempt

Physical Demands: General Office Environment
