The School of Health and Medical Sciences (SHMS) at Seton Hall University invites applications for a new, twelve-month, Assistant Professor position in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology beginning July 1, 2025. The incumbent will engage in teaching in their area of expertise, scholarship, and service to the department, School and University.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:
• Teaching, advising, and supervising undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology
• Establishing and maintaining a line of scholarly inquiry that is funded through external agencies.
• Contributing to the modification and development of new curriculum and clinical education programming in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to create courses and programming that spans the health professions.
• Engagement in service to the Department of Speech-Language Pathology, School of Health and Medical Sciences, Seton Hall University, and the local and professional community.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctoral Degree: Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) by the anticipated hire date; ABD status will be considered
• Certification and Licensure: Maintain a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and hold or be eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey.
• Content Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas within Speech-Language Pathology: Bilingual Practice/Bilingualism in CSD, Social Determinants of Health in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Cultural and Linguistic Diversity, Intersectionality, Culturally Responsive Practice, Neurodiversity-Affirming Practice, Critical Discourse Analysis, Health Disparities in CSD.
• Research and Scholarly Activity: Evidence of establishing and maintaining a line of scholarly inquiry, with a preference for projects that can attract external funding.

Desired Qualifications:

• Teaching Experience: Graduate-level teaching experience and/or undergraduate-level teaching experience in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor across various subfields in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Interprofessional Education (IPE) Engagement: Experience or demonstrated interest in interprofessional education and collaboration across health science disciplines.
• Curriculum Development and Clinical Education: Experience in curriculum development or clinical education programming, especially integrating culturally responsive and inclusive practices.
• Community and Professional Engagement: Commitment to service activities that contribute to the department, school, university, and wider professional community.
• Communication: Bilingual or multilingual proficiency will be beneficial for the role in addition to the candidate’s other qualifications.

Licenses and Certificates:

Certification and Licensure: Maintain a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and hold or be eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey.
