JOB SUMMARY

The RISE Student Support Services (SSS) Student Peer Mentor plays a key role in supporting first-generation, income-eligible, and/or students with disabilities in their transition to and success at Seton Hall University. Peer Mentors provide academic support, guidance, and encouragement to aid in student retention and success.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide 1-on-1 and group mentorship to assigned RISE SSS student mentees throughout the academic year.

Assist mentees with academic goal setting, study strategies, time management, and university resource navigation.

Help facilitate RISE SSS orientation activities, workshops, and program events.

Maintain accurate documentation of mentee interactions and program progress.

Attend all required staff meetings, supervisor check-ins, and peer mentor training sessions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Current Seton Hall University undergraduate student in good academic and judicial standing.

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.

Demonstrated leadership ability, empathy, and commitment to helping peers succeed.

Must be Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligible.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Active enrollment or participation in the RISE SSS or EOP programs preferred.

Previous experience in leadership, peer tutoring, mentoring, or student organization involvement.

High level of cultural competency and experience working with diverse student populations.
