JOB SUMMARY
|
The RISE TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program is seeking motivated and qualified Student Peer Tutors to provide academic support for undergraduate students. Tutors will offer targeted assistance in Math courses, helping peers break down complex mathematical concepts, improve problem-solving techniques, and navigate their quantitative coursework successfully.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
|
Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions for students enrolled in Math courses.
Assist students with understanding mathematical theories, formulas, and step-by-step problem-solving methods.
Help students improve quantitative study habits, practice strategies, and exam preparation techniques.
Coordinate and facilitate at least one (1) Scholarly Development workshop and one (1) Financial Literacy event for RISE students per semester.
Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, event attendance, and student progress.
Attend mandatory training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled by the program coordinator.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
|
Work-Study Eligibility: Must have a valid Federal Work Study (FWS) award for the current academic year. (Applications without FWS eligibility cannot be considered).
Coursework Requirement: Must have successfully completed Calculus 1 (Calc 1) or higher.
Academic Performance: Must have earned a minimum grade of an A- in the specific Math course(s) you wish to tutor.
GPA Requirement: Must maintain a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.4.
Strong public speaking or presentation skills to confidently facilitate program events and workshops.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
|
Experience planning, organizing, or presenting academic or financial wellness workshops.
Previous experience in mathematics tutoring, mentoring, or academic coaching.
High level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
Strong organizational skills and a genuine passion for helping peers build confidence in math.
