JOB SUMMARY
Peer Advisor Coordinators provide leadership and mentorship to the Peer Advisor team while continuing to support first-year students. Coordinators serve as role models, guide a group of Peer Advisors, ensure timely communication and documentation, and promote a strong team culture through regular check-ins and community-building efforts. In addition to fulfilling core Peer Advisor duties, Coordinators take on expanded responsibilities in oversight, mentorship, and accountability. This is a paid student leadership position offering up to 20 hours per week during the academic year, with opportunities to strengthen supervision, communication, and program leadership skills.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a model of leadership through professional communication, accountability, and respectful interactions with students, staff, and faculty
- Oversee a group of Peer Advisors and monitor their overall progress and engagement.
- Serve as a point of contact for questions or concerns related to PA responsibilities or expectations.
- Host or coordinate PA-specific bonding events to build community and morale within the cohort.
- Communicate important reminders, announcements, and event updates to assigned PAs
- Review PA activity logs and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
- Assist in preparing for campus, department, and recruiting info sessions, including coordination with relevant offices or departments
- Support and document minor disciplinary steps in accordance with the PA discipline policy and escalate issues as needed.
- Support classroom instruction in 1-2 ULife or SKIL courses by actively engaging students and assisting the instructor with learning activities
- Attend a weekly 30-minute meeting (minimum) with your class instructor to stay aligned on course goals
- Share important announcements and reminders with ULife or SKIL students to keep them informed
- Support first-year student engagement in campus life throughout the fall and spring semesters by fostering connections and encouraging involvement through activities like events, study sessions, and regular check-ins
- Participate in monthly PA buddy check-ins to build supportive relationships and share peer advising experiences.
- Participate in scheduled performance evaluations to track progress and identify areas for improvement
- Support Admissions and Career events like tours, info sessions, and Open House. Required to work two events per semester, including one Open House. Some may be on evenings/weekends.
- Hold a minimum of two weekly office hours at an assigned front desk, demonstrating professionalism while providing peer support and assisting with general office tasks
- Submit activity logs and timesheets on time every two weeks to ensure accurate tracking of hours and fulfillment of job responsibilities
FEDERAL WORK STUDY REQUIREMENT
NO -- Federal Work Study eligibility not required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Successfully hired as a current Peer Advisor.
- Will have completed at least 30 credits by December 16, 2025.
- Will be registered for at least 12 credits for Spring 2026, unless otherwise approved.
- Will maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher, with no incomplete grades.
- Is in good judicial standing with the University and have no active or unresolved conduct issues on my record.
- Has demonstrated leadership experience as evidenced by participation in extra-curricular activities.
- Is responsible, able to take initiative, be flexible and problem solve.
- Has the ability to work with diverse people
