JOB SUMMARY
Assist LLC faculty and students with services provided by the GLC. Participate in peer language conversation partner program (PALS) as a native or advanced speaker.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Global Learning Center supports the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. Student workers will assist the GLC director in supporting LLC faculty and students with a variety of activities and services the Center provides, including:
▪ Managing the Peer-Assisted Language Support (PALS) program's database of registrants, and making matches for conversation partners
▪ Participating as conversation partners in the PALS program to provide language support to LLC students
▪ Coordinating and helping run events hosted in the GLC (e.g., creating/posting flyers, setting up for events, assisting with catering, etc.)
▪ Participating in tabling events such as Involvement Day and others
▪ Helping professors locate DVDs and other resources listed in the GLC database and retrieve them from the GLC's resource library
▪ Creating content for the GLC's Instagram page and other social media
▪ Helping to maintain GLC and LLC department billboards
▪ Brainstorming program ideas and advising the director on the marketing of events and programs to students
▪ Assisting LLC faculty with smart classroom technical issues, printing requests, and other work as need arises
▪ Other duties as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
▪ MUST BE A CURRENT STUDENT AT SETON HALL UNIVERSITY. Applicants who are not will not be contacted.
▪ MUST BE FEDERAL WORK STUDY ELIGIBLE. Students who are not will not be contacted.
▪ Native or advanced proficiency in one (or more) of the languages taught at Seton Hall: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish
▪ Comfortable working with fellow students and sharing your language with them as they are learning it
▪ Strong writing and design skills for making flyers, writing email correspondence, etc.
▪ Familiarity with office procedures and good customer service
▪ Knowledge of programs such as MS Office Suite, Adobe, and Canva, as well as how to print and scan
▪ A friendly, customer service-oriented attitude
▪ A sense of diligence to perform regular/daily duties and to show up to work on time and to keep in contact when unable to work
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
▪ Interest in developing marketing and communications skills
▪ Interest in world languages and other cultures
▪ A creative mind that understands how to engage students in enrichment activities for language and culture learning
