The Assistant Director of DOVE Mission will assist in facilitating and promoting student participation in DOVE programs. They will serve as the primary coordinator for both weekly service opportunities and frequent mission trips. This role involves fostering the minds and hearts of student volunteers by making connections between faith, service, and social justice through education and reflection. These core competencies will be nurtured and enhanced under the supervision of the Director of DOVE Mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and implement weekly, monthly, and special service opportunities for Seton Hall students, including the SOS (Service on Saturdays) service events.
- Organize transportation schedules and communication with program leaders.
- Liaison with campus partners, particularly Student Services, and Campus Ministry
- Maintain contact with community service partners; complete regular site visits to all service locations.
- Create new community partnerships.
Oversee and implement Releasing the DOVEs International and Domestic Service Program.
- Organize and be present for 2 or more international service trips annually (including travel arrangements, flights, meals, and service sites in developing countries).
- Organize 4 or more domestic service trips to Philadelphia and Appalachia annually.
- Select and prepare student participants, host information meetings, conduct student interviews. Oversee waivers, medical releases, passports and other documentation.
- Teach students about the culture and language of the country / location they will serve as well as Catholic Social Teaching. Host meetings and retreats to unify teams.
Oversee, direct, and schedule DOVE Mission student workers in DOVE.
- Schedule office hours
- Oversee tracking of volunteer hours, program emails, and program coordination.
- Facilitate mid-semester evaluations with each student staff.
Coordinate DOVE special event fundraisers and campaigns on campus including the annual DOVE Toy Drive, Releasing the DOVEs Campaign, as well as additional campaigns for local needs and international missions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- 3 years of experience in program coordination
- Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing community service opportunities
- Understanding of the Catholic mission and Catholic Social Teaching
- Valid drivers license
- Availability to travel internationally and domestically
- Proficiency in basic functions of Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education
- Experience driving passenger vans
