The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and Student Assessment for the College of Nursing is a full time 12-month position that is appointed by the Dean with the approval of the Provost. The position reports directly to the Dean of the College and is responsible for all aspects of undergraduate affairs and the assessment, measurement and reporting of student learning outcomes. The Associate Dean holds academic rank and may teach a maximum of 3 credits per semester with the approval of the Dean.
The successful candidate will possess a vision and passion for excellence in all matters of pedagogy, innovative teaching strategies, simulation information technologies, and comprehension of assessment of learning outcomes for undergraduate education. A PhD in Nursing or equivalent with an MSN in Nursing required. The successful candidate will be a team player with extensive experience as a faulty member and administrative experience in a position of Assistant or Associate Dean or similar. Experience with undergraduate curriculum development, outcomes assessment measurement and program evaluation are required. Experience in the development of accreditation reports for CCNE and the State Board of Nursing is essential to the position. Additionally, the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of undergraduate students and university personnel is a requirement for the position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with Assistant Dean for Student Success and department chair(s) to problem solve for student course offerings and success.
2. Facilitate undergraduate curriculum development, assessment and evaluation for all programs (e.g., Accreditation standards, AACN Essentials, Student Learning Outcomes).
3. Oversee and coordinate all formative and summative evaluation processes. Problem- solve issues related to undergraduate student assessment, evaluation and outcomes.
4. Synthesize all undergraduate program outcomes assessments using HESI, ExamSoft and Skyfactor Benchworks (EBI) programs, NCLEX results and NCSBN reports; facilitate with undergraduate faculty any needed changes based on data. Review and present all undergraduate program outcomes assessment data and curriculum changes for curriculum committees, EPC, Faculty Assembly and the Dean’s Office. Review and revise academic policies, catalogue, and undergraduate program websites at least annually.
5. Monitor accreditation and regulatory standards and organize all outcome data for all UG programs as required by professional nursing accreditation bodies: CCNE, NJ Board of Nursing, and SHU Program Review.
6. Seek grant funding from government agencies, foundations and corporations to support excellence in the facilitation of undergraduate student outcomes in collaboration with the Dean, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and appropriate faculty and directors.
7. Organize and facilitate faculty development, orientation and mentoring in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research and chairs.
8. Collaborate with chairs and administrators to complete all annual reports and accreditation reports as required by the College, University and outside agencies.
9. Determine eligibility to sit for NCLEX and make recommendations to the Dean. Validate and approve with the Assist Dean for Student Success the registrar’s audit for graduation; manage New Jersey and out of state applications for initial RN-NCLEX and alumni licensure by endorsement with the Registrar.
10. Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Student Success and the Chair and Assistant Chairs of the Undergraduate Department on any ongoing work within the UGD.
11. Oversee and coordinate with the Dean and Assistant Dean for Student Success undergraduate enrollment processes including setting targets and program policies, coordinating Open House events with Admissions, developing inquiry follow-up strategies, and interviewing transfer students; provide special permissions and advise withdrawing students.
12. Serve as CON liaison to University Admissions. Take the lead in all Admissions event planning and implementation. Represent the CON at visit days, open houses, academic fairs and other admission events.
13. Work with the Dean, Assistant Dean for Student Success and the Department Chair to formulate and realize any CON Honors Immersion experience and DEUs for nursing students that offers enrichment and support throughout the curriculum.
14. Other duties as requested.

This candidate must possess a PhD or EdD in Nursing.
