The Training Security Manager is primarily responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing training programs and ensuring compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This role ensures that all Public Safety staff are adequately trained and certified in critical areas such as CPR, AED, Narcan administration, and other public safety practices. Additionally, the position is responsible for auditing compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensuring adherence to departmental standards and policies.
The secondary focus of this role is supervising daily operations and providing leadership to Public Safety staff, ensuring a safe and secure environment both on and off-campus. This includes managing the property room, vehicle maintenance, responding to incidents, and providing managerial coverage during vacations or absences at the main campus and at the Law school.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Design, implement, and manage comprehensive training programs to ensure all staff are certified and maintain proficiency in essential skills, including CPR, AED, Narcan administration, and other required certifications.
Regularly review and update SOPs to reflect current best practices and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct audits and evaluations to ensure departmental compliance with university policies and safety protocols.
Develop and deliver refresher courses and ongoing professional development programs for Public Safety staff.
Maintain accurate records of training schedules, certifications, and compliance reports.
Provide feedback and recommendations to improve training effectiveness and compliance outcomes.
2.Oversee the daily operations of Public Safety staff, including Dispatchers, Public Safety Officers, and contract guards, ensuring effective communication and adherence to protocols.
Provide managerial coverage during vacations or extended absences of other managers, ensuring continuity of operations.
Manage and maintain the property room, ensuring proper documentation, security, and accountability for stored items.
Respond to public safety incidents both on and off-campus, offering guidance and support to personnel as needed.
Foster a collaborative and professional working environment, promoting teamwork and mutual respect among staff.
3.Conducts daily roll calls and briefing, reviews assignments with staff and supervises issuance and inspection of equipment.
Reviews reports generated by PS&S personnel and ensures that personnel respond to incidents in an appropriate manner.
Monitors subordinate performance for compliance with policy and procedure. Directs personnel response to incidents of significance and ensures appropriate timely notification to administration and law enforcement when necessary
Monitors and reviews PSO statistical data on job performance
4.Reviews and approves all reports submitted on a daily basis.
Inspects all reports for correctness, completeness, accuracy, and legibility---undertakes corrective action(s) for same.
Ensures that all reports are submitted through the proper chain of command.
Enters reports into an electronic database and provides administration with daily briefing reports relative to activity on shift.
Enters work orders
Produces and submits daily shift reports

Required Qualifications:

Must have expertise in fire and intrusion systems. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures and techniques used in law enforcement or public safety.
Must be able to analyze and evaluate situations and to determine appropriate action or response.

Desired Qualifications:

Be able to clearly communicate directions, instructions, SHU policy, and regulations to community members
Be able to work well under pressure. Have the ability to understand and operate under University/Departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Able to multitask and prioritize.
Have the ability to write a clear and concise report.
Basic computer skills.
Understand the access control system.

Licenses and Certificates:

Have a valid NJ driver’s license to operate department vehicles.

CPR, AED, First Aid certification.

Salary Grade:

UG - Administrative

Exempt/Nonexempt: Exempt

Physical Demands: General Office Environment

Shift: Thursday, Friday, Saturday 3PM-3AM
