This position's primary responsibility is the protection of life and property. This is accomplished by ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of all fire, life safety and security systems on campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Fire Alarm Systems – Install, maintain and oversee maintenance testing and inspections
2. Fire Suppression Systems – Supervision of testing of suppression system including testing done by Coordinator of Safety & Security. Completes additional spot checks of the initial testing. Review of reports from all testing of suppression systems. This includes analysis and validation of the data, and identification of problem areas which are sometimes urgent and require immediate action and repairs. Guides the work of Coordinator of Safety & Security
3. Burglar Alarm Systems – Install, test, maintain and has authority to issue and revoke security codes.
4. CCTV Systems – Install, maintain
5. Campus Wide Card System – Wire, install and maintain
6. Electrified Locking Systems – Wire and troubleshoot locking systems and associated hardware that pertain to access control

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED, must possess 3-5 years of documented experience working Fire and Intrusion Alarm Systems and/or technical school training

Desired Qualifications:

1. Knowledge of general wiring, use of tools and test instruments, understanding of schematics and blue prints related to fire intrusion and access control systems.
2. Ability to troubleshoot safety and security systems
3. Be proficient on all software and hardware systems used by Public Safety
4. Understanding of fire alarm, fire suppression and access control systems
5. Comprehend and write reports related to Safety & Security Systems
6. Ability to effectively communicate on projects that pertain to fire and security matters

Licenses and Certificates:

Valid New Jersey driver's license

Salary Grade:

AD150 - Administrative

Exempt/Nonexempt: Exempt

Physical Demands: General Office Environment

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Required to be on call 24/7 to respond to emergencies related to Safety & Security Systems
