The Digital Biographer will be a vital member of the Preaching as Hospitality Formation Program of Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology (ICSST), a grant that concludes December 2028. The biographer is responsible for the facilitation of all video recordings of the Wisdom Figures of Preaching initiative featuring priests and deacons ordained at least 25 years and who model compelling preaching. This is a part-time position (15 hours a week) that involves creative writing, teamwork, the ability to multitask, and a significant understanding of the Catholic faith, the Roman Catholic priesthood and the diaconate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordination and Facilitation of the Wisdom Figures of Preaching Initiative: The biographer works with the Director of the Preaching as Hospitality program to determine priests and deacons to be featured in recorded videos, and to create a calendar of interviews, assuring a rhythm of interviews throughout the calendar year. Works with the Director of the program to meet with each priest and deacon and to facilitate video production.
Creative Writing: The biographer writes biographies of each interviewee and summarizes key elements of the interview. Such summaries will be published on the Seminary webpage, and repurposed for courses, retreats, and preaching workshops. The position also entails writing quarterly assessment reports and assuring that Wisdom Figures of Preaching initiative is well integrated into the annual report.
The biographer collaborates with the entire preaching team, especially the web editor/writer, attending weekly meetings and contributing to the work and mission of the Preaching as Hospitality Formation Program. The position also involves working with the administrators of the Center for Diaconal Formation and the 4:12 Grant Initiative in order to feature prominent deacons ordained at least 25 years.
he biographer serves on the Seminary Communications Committee, working with the University Public Relations and Marketing team to assure that the work of the Wisdom Figures of Preaching is featured on the University website and within various University publications.
Special Projects and Attendance at Preaching as Hospitality Events: The biographer assists with special projects as needed by the Rector/Dean, Associate Deans, and Director of the Preaching as Hospitality Formation Program.
Required Qualifications:
Writing Experience, particularly related to the Catholic faith.
BA or higher in communications or English or Theology
