JOB SUMMARY
TRIO SSS Peer Tutors provide academic support to program participants in a variety of subjects. Tutors are responsible for assisting students in understanding course material, developing study strategies, and strengthening academic confidence. This role plays a vital part in promoting student success, retention, and a supportive TRIO community.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in assigned subject areas.
Assist students in developing effective study skills, test-taking strategies, and time management.
Review class material, assignments, and exam preparation with students.
Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress as required.
Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development provided by TRIO SSS.
Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, academic integrity, and responsibility.
Refer students to additional campus resources when appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by TRIO staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Work Study ONLY
Must be a current undergraduate student in good academic standing.
Earned a minimum B+ or higher in the course(s) you wish to tutor.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
Dependable, patient, and committed to helping peers succeed academically.
Prior tutoring, mentoring, or teaching experience is preferred but not required.
