The Director of Student Services plays a pivotal role in enhancing the student experience from Orientation to Graduation. This position is charged with assisting the Dean of Students in planning, coordinating, and implementing Law Student Services for a population of 800+ students. Responsible for independently overseeing the Student Bar Association, counseling and supervising all Student Organizations and promoting positive and constructive activities to meet the needs of a diverse student body, grow student satisfaction, and increase retention. This role supports broader Student Services events and initiatives such as Orientation, Commencement, and wellbeing programming. The Director must possess outstanding communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to message up and down the ladder.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Student Bar Association
• Directly supervise the Student Bar Association (SBA), attending all meetings, events, and activities.
• Work with the Seton Hall Law School Election Committee (SHLEC) to facilitate student government elections at least twice annually. Advise with respect to scheduling of information sessions, campaign ethics, and voting process.
• Direct incoming executive board annually regarding allocation of approximately $100,000 budget and event planning logistics.
• Co-host, with SBA executive board, annual training for student leaders on compliance, budget requests, and event planning guidelines.
• Assist SBA representatives with the planning and execution of all events (in person, virtual, or hybrid) such as, Barristers Ball, Fall Fest, Section events, etc. Oversee the scheduling, orchestration, registration/payment tracking, and financial reconciliation for all SBA activities/events.
• Manage University-mandated contract process through ESM for all agreements – vendors, venues, software, or the like.
• Review and approve SBA meeting agenda, newsletter, and communication.
• Hold regular meetings with SBA President, Treasurer, and Social Chair.

2. Student Organizations
• Supervise 40+ student organizations and oversee their activities/events and expenses.
• Facilitate transparent and equitable student organization election processes and navigate disputes/disagreements.
• Discern and manage system of receiving and maintaining student organization updates, including but not limited to leadership lists and governing documents
• Advise and counsel student leaders on the successful implementation of their activities/events, including the cultural events, speaker panels, banquets, socials, etc.
• Review and evaluate substantive goals and structure of all events/initiatives for organizational alignment and mission consistency.
• Serve as key liaison between students, faculty, and administration ensuring thoughtful and holistic planning as well as a supportive, inclusive, and enriching co-curricular experience.
• Responsible for the budgeting, scheduling, planning, and registration/payment tracking for all student organization and SBA activities/events.
• Administer process of approving and satisfying student expense reimbursements.
• Create, review, and edit advertisements/flyers. Comfort creating in Canva.
• Responsible for student advisement regarding Law School policies and practices including, but not limited to, those laid out in the Student Organization Handbook.
• Coordinate with Director of Event Services on room booking, catering, AV/IT, security, and more in furtherance of successful student organization events.
• Collect and assess data to improve student engagement, financial efficacy, and event outcomes.

3. Office of Student Services
• Contribute to the day-to-day functioning of the Office of Student Services
• Manage and update web content.
• Maintain the bulletin boards by contributing to the planning of department board content and monitoring the building-wide posting of flyers.
• Assist with the advertisement, collection, stocking, and review of the Food Pantry.
• Provide support and assistance with student life needs such as securing safe and affordable housing, handling health insurance election/waiver, transportation, and more.
• Work regularly with and contribute to hiring and oversight of Research Assistant(s) when needed.
• Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all facets of the Law School Graduation Awards Ceremony as well as supporting varied aspects of Commencement planning and execution.
• Aid in the planning, promotion, execution of all Student Services events, including Orientation, Academic Lecture Events, Law School Mental Health Events, etc.

$60,000 - $82,500
