The Nurse Practitioner provides high quality and cost effective health care services to the student population and promotes health and wellness initiatives within the campus community. Health promotion and disease prevention education and counseling is provided and helps students stay healthy, recover from illness and injury, learn healthy lifestyle behaviors and have a healthy and successful experience during their college education. All of these services are provided consistent with the Catholic mission, the highest ethical standards, federal and state regulations, as well as the Universities philosophies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care: Provide primary and emergent healthcare services to the student body including: psychosocial assessment, physical examination, ordering and interpretation of laboratory diagnostics, making appropriate diagnoses, initiating and monitoring of treatment plans, prescribing medications and medical devices, evaluating treatment effectiveness, referrals to specialists and institutions, and collaboration with professional staff. Counsel patients regarding disease prevention strategies and screenings. Provide health education with a focus on wellness and life style behavior modification. Administer urgent and crisis health care. Comprehensive follow-up of high risk and non-compliant patients. Participate in the Advanced Practice Nurse/Medical Doctor Joint Prescriptive Protocol as required by NJ state law. Collaboration with Counseling Services staff concerning students with complex psychiatric/medical diagnosis.
2. Health Promotion: Participate in University committees addressing health-related issues. Develop/obtain health promotion educational materials for use in Health Services and campus programs. Act as a resource for students seeking health information for University publications as well as academic course or project requirements. Represent Health Services at university programs, which provide health education and promote healthy lifestyles. Review and revise current practice protocols to reflect medical developments and social trends impacting students
3. Participate in other initiatives and professional activities as assigned by the Director.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced Practice Nurse (Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner), 5 years of RN experience and 1-3 years of APN experience
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working in a primary care, urgent care or college health setting preferred
Licenses and Certificates:
New Jersey Advanced Practice Nurse Certification with Prescriptive Privileges
National Board Certification
New Jersey Registered Nurse Licensure
CPR/AED certification
Salary Range:
$43,200 – $59,400
Exempt/Nonexempt: Exempt
Physical Demands: General Office Environment
