Maintains, repairs, and installs all permanent building structures on campus. This includes but is not limited to: counters, doors, windows, floors, walls, ceilings, cabinets, and wood trim. The supervisor for this position is the Lead Person of the Carpenter's Shop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains, repairs, and installs all permanent building structures on campus. This includes but is not limited to: counters, doors, windows, floors, walls, ceilings, cabinets, projector screens, window screens & shades, and wood trim.
Replaces ceiling tiles and installs suspended ceilings.
Remodels existing structures per valid work order.
Safely uses power equipment and hand tools in the performance of carpentry duties. (power saws, sanders, planers, joiners, table saw, cordless tools, etc.)
Maintains inventory of supplies and material , such as wood, nails, ceiling tiles, and other parts.
Performs all work through an automated work order system and documents the hours and materials expended. Reports all deficiencies beyond his responsibility on work orders or to the Lead Person.
Install shelves as requested by a valid work order. Installs locking or security devices for electronic equipment.
Keeps Lead Person informed of all major jobs and any delays on major tasks.
Sweeps, vacuums, and cleans up work area after the completion of a job. Maintains tools so they are clean, operable, and stored properly.
Lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds) on a regular/daily basis. Routinely works off scaffolding and ladders.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Has knowledge of carpentry principles and their application to maintenance and repair activities.
Has knowledge of residential, commercial, and construction trade techniques such as: concrete form work, rough framing, and trim work.
Has a minimum of three years experience with carpentry functions, similar to the duties of a jouryneyperson carpenter.
Can read and interpret blue prints.

Licenses and Certificates:
Valid NJ driver's license.
