The candidate should demonstrate excellence in teaching of introductory general, organic and biochemistry courses for nursing majors and possess the ability and desire to interact and collaborate with members of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the College of Nursing whose students take these courses.

The 15 full-time faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry have interests spanning the entire field and we value high-quality teaching, scholarship and service. Our courses emphasize critical thinking, building scientific knowledge and ability and include the full range of introductory, advanced undergraduate and graduate courses, in an ACS-certified undergraduate program. Primary responsibilities include teaching CHEM 1301, a lecture-laboratory general, organic and biochemistry course for aspiring nursing majors with a 4-credit hour lecture and 5 lab sections supervised by teaching assistants. Additional duties include a minimum of three office hours per week and active engagement with faculty and students in daily work.
The contract will be for the Spring 2025 semester and is not renewable.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants should hold a PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related discipline that demonstrates knowledge and ability to teach introductory and/or second year college chemistry courses, especially a combined general, organic and biochemistry course.
