This position serves as a member of the Office of Admissions in the Division of Enrollment Services. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the recruitment and admission of transfer students to Seton Hall University. The Senior Assistant Director of Admissions reports to the Assistant Vice President of Operations and develops and implements University recruitment programs and related initiatives designed to attract the best possible pool of transfer candidates. The Senior Assistant Director will serve as the primary contact for transfer students primarily in New Jersey and New York, will build connections with community college counselors, and be responsible for management of their travel territory. They will travel seasonally in their territory and to other areas as designated by the Director of Undergraduate Admissions. They will participate in the evaluation of applicant files for admissions. They are responsible for meeting Enrollment Goals as set by the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management in their area of recruitment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Plans, develops, and implements recruitment outreach programs, projects, events, and other initiatives geared to recruiting transfer student; enlists and coordinates faculty, students and/or alumni, as appropriate. Serves as primary point of contact to prospective transfer students and associated community constituencies such as Office of Registrar, Transfer Student Center and academic deans. Manages the overall communication and functionality for all recruitment in regards to Transfer Students. Works closely with Director of Communication to create and distribute a range of resource and promotional materials designed for the recruitment and retention of students in targeted groups.

Participates in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of records systems and applications, as required to meet the evolving needs of the operation. Oversees and/or coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations.

Will be the point of contact for outside vendors in relation to transfer students such as NJ Transfer, Phi Theta Kappa and local community colleges. Builds partnership with local community colleges and other agencies working with transfer students, through implementation of articulation agreements and/or other agreements.

Reviews individual transfer, returning student, and second-degree applications and evaluates candidates for admission eligibility. Troubleshoots applications with problems, and oversees and/or coordinates communications with applicants.

Develops and implements outreach programs, events, and activities for recruitment and enrollment of students from targeted communities; enlists and coordinates faculty, students and/or alumni, as appropriate, in various recruitment programs.

Will assist with freshman recruitment as needed, including coverage of fall and spring travel, meeting with students and families (such as COD), attending on campus events, and assisting the team with freshman recruitment activities, especially international student applicants. May supervise the work of other staff, students, alumni, and/or volunteers. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; 1-3 years admissions or related experience required. A directly related higher degree from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of customers and offer appropriate solutions.
- Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues at the undergraduate level.
- Skill in the planning, development, implementation, and coordination of student recruitment, retention, and support programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information effectively to groups.
- Analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills.
- Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to understand and promote the Catholic Mission
- Experience with customer service and student service.
- Necessary interactions with students, families, and high school counselors.
- Flexible schedule/availability for some evening and weekend hours.
- Ability/desire to travel domestically.
- Travel is heavy (some overnight/weekend travel required) in the fall and spring seasons.
- Access to a personal vehicle for local travel. Valid driver's license
