The Center for Social Justice (CSJ) has an opening for an Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor to teach the Family Law Clinic. The CSJ is home to the Seton Hall Law School’s vibrant clinical program including the Civil Litigation and Practice Clinic; Criminal Defense and Community Advocacy Clinic; Equal Justice Clinic; Housing Justice and Legal Design Clinic; Immigrants’ Rights/International Human Rights Clinic; Impact Litigation Clinic; Health Justice Clinic; and Transactional Legal Clinic. The CSJ also houses the Pro Bono Service Program, the Housing Justice Project, and the Deportation and Detention Defense Initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor will teach the Family Law Clinic. This is a one-year position, with the possibility of renewal dependent on funding, for a full-time faculty member. The Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor will teach the weekly two-hour seminar for the Family Law Clinic and supervise up to eight (8) students per semester in family law cases, including restraining orders for survivors of domestic violence, divorce, equitable distribution, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, and adoption. The clinic will be offered in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. The Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor will be responsible for the Family Law Clinic docket year-round.

Required Qualifications:

1. J.D. degree
3. At least 5 years of practice in family law
4. Strong academic record
5. Excellent writing and oral communication skills
6. Commitment to public interest law

Desired Qualifications:

Preference for bar admission in New Jersey
Teaching experience a plus

Licenses and Certificates:

Admission to the New Jersey Bar, or at least one other state bar with ability to seek waiver to practice in New Jersey, and in good standing.

Salary Grade:

FA01 - Faculty

Exempt/Nonexempt: Exempt

Physical Demands: General Office Environment
