A Ph.D. in Physics or Applied Physics and a research specialization in Engineering is required. Candidates should have research interests in renewable energy, semiconductor technology, related topics in materials science & engineering, and expertise in optical spectroscopy methods in studying these subjects. The candidate is expected to build an on-campus research program, successfully seek sponsored research grants, and involve undergraduate and graduate students in scholarly activities. Assistant Director Grad Operations in South Orange
Reporting to the Director of Graduate Affairs Operations and Information Systems, the Assistant Director of Graduate Affairs Operations is responsible for assisting with the general management, maintenance and functionality of the graduate CRM (Slate) and associated integrations, as well as leveraging the platform for the advancement of graduate recruitment and enrollment. Additionally, serving as part of the Operations team for the Office of Graduate Affairs, this position is responsible for maintenance, initial input, and regular updates for prospective graduate student records in the Slate and Banner systems, ensuring timely and accurate data entry and processing of all graduate-related inquiries and applicants to the University, and assists with the handling of records and documentation. Furthermore, this position will also be expected to assist with the daily operations of the Office of Graduate Affairs, including timely and courteous responses by e-mail and phone to student inquiries. Given the versatile nature of work in the admissions office there will be other duties as assigned to meet the needs of our perspective students.

Under the supervision of the Compliance, Grants and Grants Information Systems Manager, the core work is with faculty and university personnel to develop proposals for grants and contracts for research, teaching and education; responsible for proactive outreach and pre-award support, budget development, consistent application of the Office of Grants & Research Services (OGRS) policies and knowledge and use of grant systems locally and in funding agencies for grant application/subcontract processing and review. The office is part of the Provost's Office and closely works and cooperates with Corporate and Foundation Relations, Grants Accounting and other academic functions, and will perform the core work functions with those units as well, representing OGRS. Supports the Director and Grants and Grants Information Systems Manager with projects as assigned and assists in the work of support through the entire life cycle of grants.
