JOB SUMMARY
SHU Theatre is seeking a Work Study for its upcoming academic year and theatre season to help in the areas of technical theatre production, design and organization of our facilities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal candidate will have an interest in theatre and production. Any experience working backstage with a theatre company or school program would be ideal, though much of the work study position would involve on-the-job training and mentorship from supervisors Professor Pete Reader and Director of Production Facilities Chris Aurilio.
Position involves physical work in our scene shop, storage areas, and as we move shows between the campus and South Orange Performing Arts Center. The candidate must be comfortable with the following duties:
Painting of scenery and set pieces
Cleaning and vacuuming of dust, sawdust and debris generated from working
This position is designed to give hands-on educational theatre production and management training to the work study. The Work Study at the TITR has the potential to have working experience in the following areas: stage lighting, scene design/decoration, carpentry, props and costumes, stage management, sound design.
The hours may be somewhat flexible, but Friday afternoons are typically scheduled as work days for our work study students and for our theatre volunteers and participants to build and paint sets, but times can be flexibly arranged with supervisors. Students must be available for specific dates on our production schedule.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
