The Web Editor, Preaching as Hospitality Formation Program of Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology (ICSST), is responsible for researching, planning, writing, and editing online content. The Web Editor will work with Seton Hall's Public Relations and Marketing Team to produce social media posts, develop strategic marketing plans, optimize search engine best practices, and assure consistent messaging. The job requires excellent research and writing skills, with an eye for detail and an understanding of the special requirements of web writing. The goal is to produce creative web content to appeal to the Seminary, University, and Archdiocesan and Diocesan audiences. The position will focus primarily on the preaching of ordained clergy; the editor must have an understanding of the Roman Catholic priesthood and diaconate. This is a part-time, 25 hour a week, grant-funded 4-year position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Creates and edits compelling and informative content for Seminary website, including articles, social media posts, feature stories, guided meditations for evenings of recollection, Scriptural Study Guides, and similar documents. Assures accuracy, coherence, and adherence to the mission and vision of the Preaching Program and ICSST.
2. Under the direction of Coordinator of the Preaching Program and the administrative team of ICSST, as well as Seton Hall's Public Relations and Marketing team, collaborates with the Administrative Assistant and Video Biographer to develop content strategies, goals, and creative objectives.
3.Creates surveys for each event, analyzes results, and writes assessment report of quantitative and qualitative data, culling highlights for web publication.
4. Stays up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in web content creation and optimization. Monitors website performance using analytics tools and make data decisions to improve content performance. Produce and publishes new content in creative ways.
5. Attends lectures, retreats and other preaching programs; interviews speakers, facilitators, participants and attendees in order to create content for web page. Helps as a host and guide at the events when needed, and assists with occasional special projects from the Rector/Dean and deans.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, no field required, but Communication, Marketing, Liberal Arts, Theology, or English is preferred.
Experience with MS Office, InDesign, Photoshop or other publishing tools. Familiarity with social media platforms and the ability to create engaging content for different channels.
Familiarity with content management systems. Proven work experience as a writer/editor. Knowledge of web design principles and user experience best practices.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional team.

Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Understanding and commitment to the Catholic Mission of the Seminary and Seton Hall, with a specific understanding of priestly and diaconal ministries.
