The Assistant Director of Affinity & Volunteer Engagement will establish new, and expand existing constituent engagement initiatives through experiences, events and volunteerism, enhancing constituent connections with Seton Hall and expanding philanthropy, for the comprehensive capital campaign. The Assistant Director will partner with members of the Alumni Engagement & Philanthropy Team, and University Advancement division to create alumni, parent and other constituent engagement and fundraising opportunities. Incumbent will assist with affinity-based engagement initiatives such as alumni affinity group experiences, young alumni activities, student engagement and philanthropy, will assist with the creation of an alumni weekend with a focus on affinity group engagement, generating young alumni engagement opportunities, and creating new student engagement and philanthropy opportunities. The role is front-facing, meeting, and engaging with key alumni groups, with a heavy focus on the Young Alumni Council and Student Alumni Association. The individual will inspire alumni to become connected, engaged and invested in the progress of Seton Hall, serves as the University liaison and advisor to the Young Alumni Council and Student Alumni Association, overseeing programming implementation, and working to increase young alumni and student engagement and philanthropy. The Associate Director will utilize current, established initiatives such as Giving Day, Giving Tuesday, and Senior Class gift to build philanthropy amongst affinity, young alumni and student groups. The Assistant Director will also be charged with increasing membership to the 1856 Society. Periodic travel, both in state and out of state, will be necessary. The Assistant Director will be involved in all aspects of Alumni Engagement, including communication, digital, experiential, annual and leadership giving and volunteer engagement by working collaboratively in a fully integrated engagement team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate a wide array of programs and projects to promote a lifelong relationship with Seton Hall among constituents. Strategically build a vibrant and involved network of Seton Hall constituents throughout the country. Identify and recruit alumni leaders, particularly through affinity group engagement, up to and including young alumni and students. Regularly meet and communicate with constituents using existing and developing communication strategies, methods and technologies. Engage, cultivate, solicit and steward donors as needed. Develop new ways to foster constituent pride and tradition, while building engagement and philanthropy. Meet with key alumni both locally and regionally, with special attention to building Seton Hall constituent engagement through affinity group engagement. Liaison to the Young Alumni Club, overseeing programming implementation while meeting with key young alumni Bayley Society members. Develop a robust young alumni engagement plan, with a goal to engage and retain young alumni through their lifetime as alumni. Identify Young Alumni Council members capable of serving on the Alumni Board, and capable of making a leadership annual gift. Work collaboratively with the Director of Volunteer and Strategic Engagement to enhance our monthly giving program, increase 1856 Society membership, enhance crowdfunding initiatives such as Giving Tuesday and Giving Day, and boost the Senior Class Gift. (60%)
2) Work collaboratively with University Advancement and campus partners, and as an integrated member of the Alumni Engagement & Philanthropy team. Participate in all aspects of alumni engagement, including philanthropy, communication, digital, experiential, leadership giving and volunteerism. Build mutually beneficial relationships that inspire loyalty and financial support, strengthen the institution's reputation and involve alumni in meaningful activities to advance the institution's mission. (20%)
3) Lead the Student Alumni Association. Professional Advisor to the Student Alumni Association, which works to foster relationships between students and alumni, educate students about the benefits of a lifelong relationship with the University and build school spirit. Promote the mission of the University at the engagement initiative and work to strengthen the University’s reputation. Provide guidance and direction to staff and volunteers in support of programs and experiences. Identify emerging student leaders to recruit for other boards, such as the Young Alumni Council and Alumni Board of Directors. (20%)

Required Qualifications:

BA and 1-3 years of experience

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in and/or demonstrated knowledge of philanthropy and volunteer management.

Licenses and Certificates:

Incumbent must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel.
