The Department of Education Leadership, Management and Policy, within the College of Human Development, Culture and Media at Seton Hall University, invites applications for a full-time lecturer position with a secondary appointment as program director in law enforcement.

The successful candidate ought to have a terminal degree in law enforcement or a related field with expertise in disciplines such as law, sociology, psychology, criminology, criminal justice, or organizational leadership. Professional experience in law enforcement is preferred. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience teaching online and hybrid courses. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The lecturer position includes a teaching load of 24 credits per year, with opportunities for credit reductions based on departmental needs and in line with the program director appointment. The lecturer appointment is for an initial one-year term, renewable on the recommendation of the Department and with the approval of the Dean. The anticipated start date is August 2023, at the start of the Fall 2023 academic semester.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The lecturer position requires the faculty member to advise students, teach courses, chair dissertations, ensure programmatic quality, and complete service for the Department and College. The faculty member will have a key role in recruiting students, marketing programs, pursuing grants, and developing courses and programs:

*Student Advisement: The faculty member will advise students to ensure students’ success, retention, and completion in programs.
*Instruction: The faculty member will teach courses in the department, including a 24-credit teaching load per year.
*Dissertation Mentorship: The faculty member will serve as a dissertation chair and committee member for doctoral students in the department.
*Program Quality: The faculty member, in coordination with the department chairperson, will ensure the quality of courses and programs. This includes assessing, developing, and improving courses and programs as well as preparing courses for online modalities.
*Department and College Service: The faculty member will complete service activities for the Department and College including, but not limited to, committee work and recruitment and outreach initiatives.
*Recruitment and Marketing: The faculty member will recruit students and market programs, as set forth in detail below.
*Grant Writing: The faculty member, in collaboration with the department chairperson, will pursue grants in order to develop and expand programs and extracurricular opportunities.
*Program Development: In collaboration with the department chairperson, the faculty member will improve existing programs and develop, connected to the overall programmatic portfolio and strategic plan of the department, curricular programs, and extracurricular opportunities.

As the law enforcement program director, the faculty member will have enhanced responsibilities for recruiting students, marketing programs, pursuing grants, and developing courses and programs. Below are the position accountabilities with an emphasis on the role of program director:

*Recruiting and Marketing: The program director recruits for and markets law enforcement programs to maximize the growth, visibility, and reputation of the unit. This is a key priority. As such, the faculty member ought to have strong existing connections and the ability to form and maintain new connections in the field and to law enforcement agencies and connected associations.
*Full-time and Contingent Faculty Support: The program director, in collaboration with the department chairperson, recruits, manages, develops, and supports full-time and contingent faculty members.
*Student Advisement and Support: In collaboration with the department chairperson and faculty members, the program director manages student advisement.
*Program Development, Management, and Success: The program director, in collaboration with the department chairperson and faculty members, assists with developing, managing, assessing, and improving programs.
*Outreach and Community Partnerships: The program director pursues innovative strategies to involve and liaise with key stakeholders to support the growth, visibility, and reputation of the unit and mission of the Department and College. Specific examples of outreach to engage may include town halls, professional development, and podcasts and other content creative possibilities.
*Grant Funding: The program director pursues and manages grants to build and support student enrollments, the visibility and reputation of the programs, and further the mission of the Department and College.

The department chairperson may assign additional duties when necessary.

*Experience gathering and responding to student and faculty feedback

*Experience teaching in online and hybrid learning environments
*Experience with grant writing and funding
