The Manager, User Interface and Multimedia will plan, implement, direct and supervise the development of user interface design, content templates and multimedia for the University Web site and associated Web services. The Manager is responsible for the design of the end user environment and interface of content system templates and associated multimedia, interfacing with other constituents of the University Community to ensure optimum user experience. The manager is also responsible for all live event streaming and multimedia production for the Teaching, Learning, & Technology Center. This position serves a variety of internal customers across all departments under the direction of the Director Digital Media & Web Development in coordination with the Director of Web & Digital Communications as part of a cross functional web team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, develop and maintain common user interface standards, modules, elements, system usability guidelines, and GUI prototypes for the University’s Web site, associated Web services and other web projects.
Supervise the user interface and multimedia design activities of the cross-functional web team related to all design and content system development projects.
Design, develop and evaluate prototypes and wireframes of proposed designs based on both long- and short-term University goals.
Research and initiate improvements in UX/UI and Multimedia designs and methods relating to state-of-the-art techniques, methods, media and designs as well as emerging industry trends in techniques, methods, media and designs.
Required Qualifications:
Previous experience with graphic design, UX / UI design, multimedia design and development; Web development experience in current HTML, CSS and other Web presentation technologies required. Requires knowledge of accessibility (DoJ Section 508 Conformance), usability principles, quality control and testing disciplines. Solid industry experience designing user interfaces for the Web. Strong diagramming and screen layout skills. Position must also be experienced with the design, maintenance and day-to-day operation of a Web content management system.
