The Associate Director of Alumni Communication & Digital Engagement, under the direction of the Director of Alumni Communication & Digital Engagement, is responsible for establishing and expanding communications, digital engagement and alumni benefits and services. The Associate Director will focus heavily on building Seton Hall's various digital platforms, while evaluating their effectiveness. The Associate Director will help develop marketing plans and be responsible for the Seton Hall Alumni social media channels including strategy, reporting, customer service, and benchmarking. The position will be required to be on-site for alumni events to capture content for social media. The Associate Director will implement communications and social media plans in conjunction with the upcoming comprehensive campaign. They will assist the Director on developing campaign marketing plans, including direct mail, emails, newsletters, collateral material, social media, event registrations, and web updates. The Associate Director must possess strong design and writing skills.
A strong focus on career-oriented development and resources will be emphasized. This position requires the ability to understand and respond to the needs of Seton Hall alumni determining which programs and services they would find most beneficial.
The Associate Director will be involved in all aspects of Alumni Engagement, including communication, digital, experiential, leadership giving and volunteer engagement by working collaboratively in a fully integrated engagement team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Under the direction of the Director of Alumni Communication & Digital Engagement, prepare and disseminate communications to alumni for various purposes, including social media, text, email, the alumni website, philanthropic appeals, events, benefits, programs, and services. Integrate alumni communications with the upcoming comprehensive campaign communications. Maintain the social media marketing calendar and several Seton Hall Alumni social media channels, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Launch and develop additional social media channels as needed. Help build the Seton Hall, University Advancement and Campaign brand. Cross-market alumni benefits, services, events, solicitations, and programs across communication venues.
2. Establish benefits and services available to alumni including a strong partnership with the Career Center. Research ways to better serve alumni by reviewing practices used at other universities. Work with the Career Center staff on strategies to best serve alumni both near and far from campus as well as in-person and virtually. Implement professional development-specific programming available to alumni building on pre-existing programs (i.e., webinars, career fairs) and establish new ways both in-person and virtually for alumni to connect with one another. Utilize Raiser's Edge database to maintain career events, tracking/managing volunteerism, as well as updating alumni personal and professional information, as necessary. Oversee the benefits and services programs currently offered to alumni and research new and interesting opportunities to engage and serve alumni. Research ways to communicate the availability of such benefits to alumni via marketing, social media, or print communication. Working with the Director of Alumni Communication & Digital Engagement, develop a communication plan and send communications to alumni, to best inform them of services offered. Maintain relationships with various companies to troubleshoot any issues that may arise in utilizing programs offered.
3. Work collaboratively with University Advancement and campus partners, and as an integrated member of the Alumni Engagement & Philanthropy team. Participate in all aspects of alumni engagement, including philanthropy, communication, digital, experiential, leadership giving and volunteerism. Build mutually beneficial relationships that inspire loyalty and financial support, strengthen the institutions reputation, and involve alumni in meaningful activities to advance the institutions mission.
BA in communications or related field plus minimum 3 years of experience.
Proficient in all current social media platforms, content management systems required.
Alumni Engagement & Philanthropy requires working nights and weekends to participate and execute a variety of alumni engagement activities and programs. This position requires work on nights and weekends to cover social media activity.
Travel within a 60 mile radius may be needed to meet with alumni, attend engagement/volunteer events, or attend conferences related to the Alumni Engagement field.
Design and editing skills (Canva, Adobe, etc.) for light graphic design, podcast and video editing is preferred.
