The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking an experienced administrator to direct the Joseph A. Latino Institute.  The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of the issues facing the Latino Community and demonstrate proven success in student engagement programming, donor development, and fundraising events. The position oversees one (1) full-time Program Coordinator, one (1) Graduate Assistant, and three (3) part-time student employees.

The ED will report to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and will have dotted lines to the Vice President of Student Services and Vice President of University Advancement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • College of Arts and Sciences- Office of the Provost
  • Develop annual program budget
  • Oversee annual scholarship awards for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop programming and highlight research
  • Cultivate the Board of Advisors to expand scope and activities of the Institute
  • Maintain active relationship with the Board
  • Collaborate with University Relations to establish relationships with government agencies on a state and national level on educational initiatives that are specific to the Latino population.
  • Division of University Advancement
  • Pursue grants, individual philanthropy, advertising, and other funding opportunities for program development and operation.
  • Identify and cultivate funding opportunities (private donors and corporate partners)
  • Oversee annual fundraising activities (i.e. annual gala)
  • Steward current donors, partners, and alumni
  • Collaborate with Alumni Affairs to identify opportunities to engage Latino alumni
  • Division of Student Services
  • Develop calendar of annual programming for students
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop opportunities for University-wide engagement.
  • Serve as Advisor to the Adelante Latino/a Student Organization
  • Collaborate with University colleagues to develop agenda for annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration

Required Qualifications:

  • A combination of Bachelor's degree and experience that demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of the issues and concerns facing the Latino community is required.
  • 8 or more years of extensive experience in fundraising and event management in higher education or nonprofit setting may substitute for the degree.
  • Understanding of the mission and vision of the Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute within the context of the University mission is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relative field is preferred.
