Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice
The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work and Criminal Justice in the College of Arts and Sciences at Seton Hall University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in criminal justice. The Criminal Justice B.A. Program has a 36-credit hour curriculum and currently serves nearly 200 majors and minors.

Seton Hall is an archdiocesan university with a combined undergraduate and graduate student body of approximately 10,000 students. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be expected to engage in an active research program and teach criminal justice courses at the undergraduate level. The faculty is also expected to be proficient in academic advising and student mentoring, program and curricular development, and other institutional service activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in criminology, criminal justice, or a closely related social science. J.D. will only be considered if candidate holds an advanced degree in criminology or criminal justice.
  • A demonstrated record of scholarship in criminology or criminal justice.
  • Undergraduate teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: criminal law, evidence and procedure, criminal courts, corrections, and policing.

Desired Qualifications:

  • The department also has interest in candidates whose qualifications would allow them to teach courses in other specialty areas, including but not limited to: race, gender, class and criminal justice, white collar and corporate crimes, and juvenile justice.
  • Previous leadership and mentorship experience in teaching, research, or service that supports an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
  • Previous experience in guiding and assisting students who are interested in pursuing a legal education.
  • Prior professional experience relevant to the assigned course topics.
  • Able to develop online and hybrid modes of course delivery.
