Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Department of Professional Psychology and Family Therapy in the College of Education and Human Services is seeking applicants for a tenure track core faculty member, who will also be responsible for overseeing the management of on-campus academic activities as Program Director, for the Counseling/Professional Counseling MA/EdS and School Counseling MA. Core faculty throughout the department are expected to contribute to the collective mission, working collaboratively as colleagues serving programs in counseling and school counseling, marriage and family therapy, counseling psychology, psychological studies, and school psychology.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Counselor Education & Supervision or Counseling Psychology.
  • Demonstrated program leadership experience and the skills necessary to further develop the national visibility of the MA/EdS programs.
  • Evidence of achievement in teaching and in scholarly productivity consistent with the level of associate professor.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure and/or school counselor certification in New Jersey are required.
  • Candidates must demonstrate ability to provide expertise in advanced practice supervision.
  • Commitment to infusing multicultural content and social justice principles across all course work
  • Evidence of experience in or potential for work with diverse students and communities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Accreditation experience (CACREP or MPCAP).
  • Experience as a program director or chair
  • Candidates are expected to clearly identify as a counselor and/or counseling psychologist. Strong candidates will demonstrate the ability to serve as role models for excellence in research and teaching. Teaching online and on-campus, depending on program needs, is expected.
  • The successful candidate will have management experience, such as to address student issues, course scheduling, and advisement.
  • Specific teaching areas will be determined based on department needs and candidates’ interests. We seek an individual who works collaboratively, collegially, and respectfully to promote the mission of the department and programs. The successful candidate will be a key part of the program review for potential accreditation.

  • Salary and Appointment: A full-time (9-month) tenure-track appointment at the Associate/Assistant Professor level is available. Salary range is competitive, with an expected 3/3 teaching load and 6 credits release time per academic year for time spent completing administrative activities. Summer teaching opportunities are generally available. Our historic, intimate South Orange campus provides a starting point for the numerous opportunities for recreation, entertainment, education, and culture in the immediate area as well as in New York City, which is only 14 miles to our northeast.
