Administer and run all aspects of Seton Hall University’s Athletic Pep Band program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coaching
1. Plan appropriate practices to prepare for school year activities and basketball season.
2. Direct band at all men’s and women’s basketball events.
3. Direct band at all campus and community performances

Recruiting
1. Establish and develop relationships with appropriate high school and junior college programs for public relations purposes, thus positioning the university nationally.

Administration
1. Maintain and purchase instruments, music, equipment and facilitate repair services when needed.
2. Maintain and keep update of instrumental music library.
3. Coordinate publicity for band activities, notifying proper staff member of all activities scheduled by the group.
4. Ensure that program is cost effective and funds are managed wisely.
5. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

Public Relations
1. Participate in public relations activities, as approved, to include granting interviews with newspaper, radio and television media, attending press conferences and making public appearances. Consult with assigned Media Services staff regarding game preparations.
2. Represent the department at professional, civic, charitable and alumni events. Consult with Compliance office staff to evaluate each request to ensure compliance with NCAA regulations.

Fundraising
1. Assist with the planning, coordination and execution of approved fund-raising activities.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

Desired Qualifications:

1-3 years experience as a music teacher, music director, or band member.

Licenses and Certificates:

Valid Driver's License

Salary Grade:

AD130 - Administrative

Exempt/Nonexempt: Exempt

Physical Demands: Physical demands include frequent standing/moving while providing a variety of instructional techniques
