The Department of Education Leadership, Management & Policy in the College of Education and Human Services at Seton Hall University invites applications for one tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of education leadership. The position begins in the fall of 2020.

Tenure Track Faculty Position in P-12 Education Leadership
The Department of Education Leadership, Management, and Policy offers M.A., Ed.S., Ed.D., and Ph.D. programs for students who seek educational leadership, policy, and research positions in public, private, and parochial schools, districts, and government agencies as well as institutions of higher education, non-profit and other education policy organizations.

Seton Hall University is located in South Orange, New Jersey, just 14 miles from New York City. It is the oldest Catholic diocesan institution of higher education in the United States, and the Carnegie Foundation classifies it as Doctoral/Professional. It is home to approximately 6,300 undergraduate and 4,700 graduate students from all 50 states and more than 60 foreign countries. Accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the College of Education and Human Services is one of Seton Hall's eleven colleges and schools. It offers programs at the bachelors, masters and doctoral levels and is noted for its nontraditional scheduling, its hands-on internships and its community involvement

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • We seek a candidate with experience and/or expertise in P-12 education leadership, broadly defined. Experience/expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred: curriculum, finance, organizational theory, policy, supervision, or technology. Successful candidates will teach courses in our educational leadership programs, including traditional (on-campus), online, and weekend formats. The successful candidate‚Äôs substantive area of scholarly research in educational leadership is open; however, candidates should have a clear research agenda relating to P-12 school leadership.
  • Responsibilities include teaching courses related to P-12 education leadership in our various graduate programs (and teaching other courses as needed); conducting impactful research and publishing scholarly work related to education; advising masters and doctoral students; supervising doctoral dissertations and/or field placements; assisting with student recruitment and assessments; and contributing to program development and coordination. Faculty are expected to be active members of the College of Education and Human Services and the broader Seton Hall Community and to participate in university initiatives and partnerships with schools and communities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in educational leadership or a related field (candidates nearing the end of their doctorates may be considered); demonstrated record of scholarly achievement (publications and or conference presentations) in education; and experience in P-12 education settings.
  • Experience working in P-12 administration, working with P-12 educators and leaders and/or conducting research on P-12 issues is strongly preferred.
