Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include management of the “Class Notes” section of Seton Hall, the University magazine, monthly Pirate Press electronic alumni newsletter, writing in depth profile pieces and other materials produced by the Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy team. The Graduate Assistant will work with a variety of internal and external partners to identify and create outstanding content, manage various communication channels and delivery vehicles, and ensure that work is edited, timely and engaging. Other responsibilities include management of several web pages, including the Alumni homepage, and populating content onto our alumni digital networks. In addition, the graduate assistant will work with all members of the team to plan and implement comprehensive communications and marketing plans for events and other initiatives.
All graduate assistants on the Alumni Relations team, despite title or position, will provide regular support to all administrators on a variety of other office-related tasks including mailings, preparing materials and providing other general customer service to alumni and other constituencies.
Providing outstanding customer service to University graduates is the top priority of Alumni Relations. The graduate assistant will work to ensure that alumni communicating with Seton Hall for any reason are responded to in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.
This position requires 20 office hours per week, including some night and weekend hours. This is a year round, 12 month position.
Applicants must possess an understanding of and willingness to support the Seton Hall University Catholic mission.
Familiarity with Associated Press styleguide is required.
Stellar writing and editing ability are a must, and all candidates are to send in writing samples appropriate for the position (i.e. news articles, profile pieces, mass email publication.)
Exemplary time management, oral and written communications skills and professional demeanor are required.
A bachelor’s degree and enrollment in a Seton Hall graduate program are required.
