This position assists prospective parents and students, current parents and students, as well as all members of the University, explore all available options for determining eligibility and obtaining funding for attending this institution. This includes but is not limited to grants, scholarships, and student loans. More specifically, securing and obtaining federal and private student loans that will be used towards the students cost of attendance at Seton Hall.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily Loan Certifications, including determining students eligibility to receive the loan funds.
  • Disbursement of loans funds into student's accounts including reconciling such funds
  • Working with lenders, guarantors, and services to complete the loan process for the student including but not limited to the application process through to the disbursement of funds.
  • Serving students, parents, and other members of the University community at the Financial Aid Counter as well as via email, phone and our calling center.
  • Maintaining and enforcing Federal, State, and University policies and procedures by attending conferences, workshops, training sessions and webinars geared toward professional development.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills listed but not limited to:
    Exchange of routine, factual information and/or answering routine questions by exchange of detailed information or resolve problems that are varied or unpredictable in nature for customers in own department, outside and across the university.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in the Financial Aid
  • Ability to access and work with sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Identify needs/concerns of others, determine potential solutions, resolve or redirect appropriately.
  • Persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas or collaborate on significant projects.
  • Resolve conflict, negotiate or collaborate on major projects.
  • Handle sensitive issues and facilitate collaboration at the highest level
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and work quality.
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to understand issues that are varied and may be ambiguous, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation. Problems must be solved using knowledge and skill and general precedents and practices.
  • Ability to work independently - results are defined and existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods and carries out work activities independently; supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems
