The Director oversees the office of faculty affairs and conducts and organizes training & workshops for School of Medicine employees. This position manages processes including faculty and teaching staff recruitment, appointment, promotion, reappointment/tenure (as appropriate), sabbaticals, annual performance reviews, awards, and the generation of Dean’s reports. He/she is involved in shared governance administration, serves as a point of contact between the School of Medicine, Seton Hall University, and Hackensack Meridian Health, and is directly involved in maintaining all faculty and teaching staff files, records, and related databases. Much of the information processed is personal and highly sensitive, requiring strict adherence to confidentiality rules. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team who share the mission-driven commitment to diversity and equity within faculty, student, and administrative ranks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting and/or organizing workshops, orientations, and regular training sessions for School of Medicine faculty, teaching staff, and administration. Overseeing the coordination of faculty, chair, and teaching staff orientation, and professional development.
  • Oversees the coordination of counseling, mediation, and grievance issues.
  • Drafting faculty and teaching staff job postings. Preparing and issuing faculty and teaching staff appointment contracts and related transactions. Managing conflict of interest, disclosure, and review matters.
  • Maintaining the Office of Faculty Affairs’ web presence.
  • Provides documentation & relevant information to the Associate Dean Faculty Affairs for his/her strategic planning & evaluation of the School of Medicine’s Faculty Guide and Faculty Bylaws.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with faculty and senior academic administrators or other related area.
  • Understanding of faculty affairs policies and procedures.
  • Requirement to problem solve and analyze information from various perspectives.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Master's degree
