The head coach is responsible for leadership in all phases of the program including the organization, development, administration and coordination of a competitive NCAA Division I women’s golf program.  The head coach must have the ability to recruit and retain athletically and academically qualified student-athletes. The head coach will oversee all instructing, including planning team practices and conducting individual and team workouts to enhance the student-athlete's technical skill level.  Additionally, the head coach will be responsible for the hiring and supervision of volunteer assistant coaches, scheduling, budget and roster management, equipment purchasing and maintenance, and travel planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coaching Responsibilities

  • Organize, direct, and administer all aspects of the program
  • Develop sport program to remain competitive in the BIG EAST Conference
  • Create a safe, positive environment for student-athletes to learn and be challenged
  • Emphasize and enforce the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct
  • Practice good sportsmanship and the highest standards of professional conduct
  • Must strive to be professionally current in their sport
  • Adhere to  Athletics Department  code of conduct

Recruit and Retain Student-Athletes

  • Recruit and retain athletically and academically qualified student-athletes
  • Commit to each student-athlete’s academic achievement
  • Adhere to NCAA, BIG EAST, University, and Athletic department policies and procedures
  • Pass the annual NCAA Coaches Certification Test
  • Maintain required documentation for NCAA rules compliance
  • Determine the distribution of athletically related financial aid

Administration

  • Coordinate a competitive NCAA Division I schedule
  • Organize and direct team practices
  • Support the mission and goals of the University and Department of Athletics
  • Maintain budget control and fiscal responsibility
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for business expenditures and NCAA rules compliance
  • Work closely with sport administrator and travel coordinator to secure travel arrangements
  • Work closely with equipment manager to procure equipment needs
  • Attend required rules compliance reviews

Public Relations

  • Promote a positive image of Seton Hall University at all times 
  • Participate on University and departmental committees 
  • Support your team’s Life Skills and community relations’ projects
  • Support sports information office with information for publicity purposes
  • Support marketing efforts through appearances and promotions    

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree; 1-3 years experience as an NCAA Division I head or assistant golf coach, or professional golf coach

Licenses and Certificates:

  • Candidate must pass the most current NCAA Coaches Certification Test, however, it can be administered (and must be passed) once on campus

Exempt/Non-Exempt:

  • Exempt

Salary Grade:

  • Administrative - AD170

Physical Demands:

  • Extensive standing/walking; Exposure to all weather conditions; Exposure to hazardous materials. 
  • Vision and hearing abilities necessary.
